During the summer months, Snow Summit transforms one of its two high-speed quads, the East Mountain Express, into the Scenic Sky Chair. The chair lift speed is significantly reduced (lift can be stopped completely for loading and unloading upon request) to allow guests of all ages to truly enjoy the natural beauty of Big Bear Lake and the surrounding area.
The mile-long Scenic Sky Chair transports sightseers, hikers and cross-country mountain bikers through the San Bernardino National Forest from the base elevation of 7,000 feet to a summit elevation of 8,200 feet. Sit back and enjoy the wildlife, flowers, panoramic views and fresh mountain air.
At the top you will find the most scenic BBQ in Big Bear. Stop by the View Haus and enjoy lunch on the deck while taking in the views of the valleys below and the surrounding mountains.
If you’re feeling adventurous, turn your sightseeing trip into a short hike on the Mountain Top Trail or take one of the many trails down the mountain, and you can always just hop back on the Sky Chair for a peaceful ride down. Either way, you will enjoy spectacular views of Big Bear Lake and the entire valley.
All ages can take the ride, from infants to seniors and the disabled. Chairs can be stopped for loading and unloading with comfort bars on every chair.
