Downhill Mountain Biking in our Bike Park

Snow Summit Summer Downhill Trail Map

Snow Summit is So Cal’s only lift served Bike Park!  We have teamed up with Gravity Logic, a leader in the mountain bike industry to design all new trails for mountain bikes. Miracle Mile, Party Wave and Westridge Trails are open for summer 2014. Both Party Wave and Miracle Mile are advanced runs for experienced mountain bikers and they include upper level features such as step ups, berms, bridges and more. Westridge is a blue trail geared towards intermediate riders with some advanced features. Our Bike Park Terrain Crew maintains the trails and will keep a fresh set-up all summer long.

Snow Summit Mountain Bike Park

Over the course of the next five years our master plan of building out the bike park begins this spring with a beginner trail. We are currently moving forward with our plan to have the LONGEST and ONLY “Green” mountain bike trail in the Big Bear Valley with full lift service! We are working with the National Forest Service to pursue our original plan for this trail designed by Gravity Logic, Inc. and we are currently doing environmental studies and pursuing the appropriate permits.

Cross-country Biking

Cross Country Mountain Bike Trails at Snow Summit
Sure, there’s been a lot of hype this summer about our Bike Park, but don’t think of Snow Summit as only for Downhill Mountain Bikers! While our Resort doesn’t offer an any Cross-Country style trails on resort property, you can use the Scenic Sky Chair to access some great cross country trails at the top of the mountain that are managed by the National Forest Service! One of the most popular is the “Skyline Trail”, running alongside to Skyline Drive (2N10), which traverses across the ridgeline offering spectacular views of the Santa Ana River Valley and San Gorgonio Mountain.  Did you know that the Forest Service has recently been expanding “Skyline” to provides a world class biking experience for cross-country mountain bikers? Skyline now features approximately 26 miles of trail to help get your tires dusty! Why not enjoy the view from our Sky Chair on the way up, pedal around to your heart’s delight, and then maybe grab a bite at the View Haus!

Party Wave to Turtle Trail
Machine built and hand finished Party Wave features flowy berms, jumps and wood features. Turtle Trail is the alternate route for lower Miracle Mile which Party Wave connects with after the big Step-Up. Turtle Trail is a super fun machine built berm trail with linking turns that are sure to put a big grin on your face. No gnarly jumps or rock gardens found here, just gradual berm turns! Intense Tracer 27.5
Type: Freeride

Manufacturer Says: The idea to do the 27.5 was a natural progression of our popular Tracer 2 and as there was momentum with the 650b segment the timing was right. The 27.5 combines the best qualities of the 26” & 29” wheels. It has all the precision and efficiency of the 26” wheel and the added power and stability offered by 29ers.“If the industry had to decide on one wheel size, I would vote for the 27.5, without hesitation. It is just as much fun as a 26, but faster. The Tracer 27.5 offers 5.5-6” of adjustable travel, 17” chainstays , a 13.3” bottom bracket, cable routing for RockShox’s stealth reverb dropper post, our G1 replaceable dropout system and a modified geometry 67 degree head angle.

Snow Summit Staff Says: The tracer 27.5 is the all-mountain experience bike. It will handle any trail you throw at it and leave you with a smile day-in and day-out.

Trek Rumblefish
Type: XC Full Suspension

Manufacturer: Rumblefish pairs 29er momentum with the mojo of 120mm front and rear DRCV travel. It’s a match made in big-wheel heaven, adding up to a do-it-all full suspension 29er trail bike. Rumblefish is the perfect next step whether you’re a 29er fan looking to tackle more technical terrain, or a 26″ trail rider ready to trade up to bigger wheels.

Review: “While Gary Fisher didn’t invent the 29er, the man and his brand have spent more than a decade tweaking wagon wheelers – and that comes across loud and clear with the Rumblefish”.-Vernon Felton of Bike Magazine

Staff Comment: The Rumblefish is very comparable to the Fuel ex 8. The difference being the 29″ tire on the Rumblefish allows it to travel with less rolling resistance making bumps and rocks much easier to maneuver.
