September 11, 2009

Bear Mountain unveils 110 tons of snow for annual snowboard competition

(Big Bear Lake, CA – September 9, 2009) – This year’s 6th annual Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails “Rise of the Dog”, presented by Tornados, is set to take place at Bear Mountain on Saturday, September 19th, 2009 starting at 2 p.m. This unique, summertime snowboard competition features some of the top professional snowboarders in North America battling it out for $15,000 in cash on a one-of-a-kind, man-made snow park utilizing 110 tons of snow.

This revolutionary event provides up close and personal, jaw-dropping tricks by some of the best rail riders in snowboarding including Bear Mountain’s Team Riders Chris Bradshaw, Scott Vine, Zak Hale, Johnny Miller and Desiree Melancon along with other top professionals such as Jed Anderson, Pat Milbery, Chris Grenier, Will Lavigne, Louie Paradise, Jake Olson Elm, Kyle Clancy, Scott Stevens and Yale Cousino.

Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails is free to the public and promises to get you ride-ready with roll back pricing on Big Bear Mountain Resorts’ screaming deal season passes – your last chance to get the best rates for the 2009/2010 season! Featuring world champion snowboarder and emcee, Todd Richards, this ultimate pray-for-snow party promises to get snowboarders and skiers pumped for the coming season with autograph sessions, movie premieres for Bear Mountain’s “Parkumentary” and the new Stepchild/Thirtytwo team movie “This Video Sucks” as well as a vendor booth city, product giveaways, live DJ’s, BBQ and Bear Bar.

Bear Mountain’s Pro Team Members/Judges include:
Joe Sexton: Joe is arguably one of the best up and coming rail riders in snowboarding today and one of the newest members of Bear Mountain’s Pro Team. Joe was the “Best Trick” winner of the 2007 Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails. Look for Joe’s part in the Stepchild/Thirtytwo team movie that will premier at the event.
JP Walker: A legendary snowboarder and the captain of Bear Mountain’s Pro Team, JP has spent his whole career innovating new tricks. From filming for Mack Dawg’s “Decade” snowboard film right on through the production of “Double Decade,” JP is still one of the best. Also, look for JP’s part in the Stepchild/Thirtytwo team movie that will premier at the event.
Seth Huot: Made his big leap forward filming for Mack Dawg’s “Shakedown” snowboard film and since then he has proven himself to be one of the most diversified riders out there. Whether it be hitting jumps and rails or making it happen in the backcountry, Seth is a solid rider.
Simon Chamberlain: He may be Canadian, but he rides like he’s right out of SoCal. Ever since winning the Nixon Jib Fest at Bear Mountain several years ago, Simon has always been on top of his game. Check out his Fuel TV “Firsthand” episode if you don’t believe. Once again, look for Simon’s part in the Stepchild/Thirtytwo team movie that will premier at the event.
