Big Bear Mountain Resorts Swings into Spring

Bear Mountain Golf Course Opens May 8th
(Big Bear Lake, CA – April 23, 2009) – Winter may be over but the activities and events that bring Big Bear Mountain Resorts (BBMR) to life in the summer are just around the corner. The Bear Mountain Driving Range will open tomorrow, April 24th and the 9-hole Mountain Style Golf Course is scheduled to open May 8th, 2009.
“This season, BBMR has made additional improvements in the golf course to create new and unique challenges for our visitors,” said Blake Ordway, Operations Manager for Bear Mountain Golf Course. “The great thing about golf is that it is a bottomless sport; there are always new things to learn and more challenges to overcome, which makes it such a great activity for all ages and abilities.”
The Bear Mountain Golf Course features a unique golfing experience. The base altitude at Bear Mountain, 7,000 feet above sea level, provides advantages for lift of the ball. New traps dot the nine-hole course, providing interest and trials for both the experienced and novice golfer. It also features PGA Golf Professional, Dallas Goldsmith, who was born and raised in Big Bear, and after a career that’s taken him around the country, he returned home in 2008 as the Golf Pro at Bear Mountain Golf Course.
“As a kid, most sports came naturally to me but not golf – that’s what intrigued me,” said Dallas Goldsmith, Bear Mountain Golf Pro. “I enjoy sharing my passion for the sport with others and helping them to develop their skills – and you can’t beat the view!”
Some of the great summer activities you can look forward to include the Snow Summit Scenic Sky Chair, golf, hiking, and mountain biking. The Snow Summit Scenic Sky Chair will open on weekends only beginning May 16th then daily beginning June 20th with breathtaking views of Big Bear Lake.
